The Metro/Douglas County Amateur Radio Emergency Service ® (MDARES ) consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment for communications duty in the public service.   While ARES® is a program (and trademark) of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) it is organized at a local level where ARES leaders determine how best to organize ourselves to best provide communications support to the agencies and organizations that we serve.

MDARES members are active in SKYWARN for the Metro/Douglas County.  Beside providing reports of  severe weather within Douglas County,  MDARES also provides volunteers to the National Weather Service to provide amateur radio communications to other spotter groups across the NWS Omaha’s 38 County Warning Area.
